Temptation

 HELLO!

Some time ago I found an old schoolbook. There I found a reproduction of Alphonse Mucha's work called: 'the Moon' (1902).

In 1902 Mucha worked on the series of decorative panels called the Moon and the Stars
The illustration you see here, shows a study for the Moon (technique: ink & watercolour on paper).

When I was looking at the picture of the Mysterious Moon Lady, a thought of creating a collage came to my mind.

Among the ingredients for my collage were:

  • a cardboard,
  • a celadon-coloured paper napkin,
  • pieces of decorative paper,
  • a mentioned illustration,
  • cuttings from newspapers & flyers.

Firstly, I glued a napkin to cardboard.

Secondly, I took a decorative paper and tried to create a form of window. The idea is that the Mysterious Moon Lady is peeking.

After I cut out window frame I glued an illustration to "window", and then I glued this all to a cardboard.

Soon I glued also 5 cuttings which fitted to the whole picture. Words are in polish but do not worry - you'll find a translation of them under this picture.

Temptation, collage on a cardboard, 18,2 x 21,3 cm.

TRANSLATION:

Going from the very top of the collage:

1. Your windows - open.

2. At the sleepy, uncertain time of twilight

3. you do not look at me.

Under the window:

4. (white one) One could immerse for a moment

5. (black one) Where the apparitions and demons rule.

I connoted this Mysterious Moon Lady with an apparition which is trying to lure you into something dark. That's why from cuttings emerged a speech, formed from words which seem to come from this beautiful lady.

That's all.

How do You perceive Temptation?
