the Symphony of Terror

 HELLO!

A year ago I wrote a poem inspired by Yuki Kajiura's composition the Main theme of Petit Cossette. This beautiful & moody piece of music made me think about the dark sky and blusterous storm.

The poem I wrote is named symfonia grozy and you will be able to read it HERE.

Today I'd like to show you a pastel created on the basis of a poem, and also a translation of mentioned poem - the symphony of terror.

ENJOY!

the symphony of terror, oil pastels on a teal blue paper, 14,7 x 21 cm.

the symphony of terror

the weather forecast said something different

a gorgeous sunset was supposed to be in the evening

meanwhile a relaxing walk on the beach turned into a nightmare

because something wicked came

thick leaden clouds loomed up out of nowhere

and with resonant drumming they beclouded the rosy sky

under blizzard of their darkness everything around changed

announcing the coming of something wicked

with them a wind arrived uttering cacophonous sounds

and out of his own shrill cries and moans

he arranged a bone-chilling symphony

singing that something wicked is coming

the sea which turned into the dark ink stain

permitted its waves to dance fiercely

and waves lost themselves in chaotic beats of windy symphony

indicating that something wicked came

and with its dissonance it seeded anxiety in the human hearts

after feeding off their fear it left

and no one was able to unravel the riddle of experienced terror

only the allied elements know

the secret of symphony’s notes

I wondered what would be the best way to illustrate a poem for a while. So I just went with idea of doing a pastel which shows a rough and disturbing landscape. I wanted to show 2 eerie figures on the sky - the left one seems to sing, and the right one seems to play on drums.

Below you can see my pastel in the making.

What do You think about the Symphony of Terror?

  1. Przyjrzałam się obrazowi, na pierwszy rzut oka abstrakcyjny, ale to tylko pozory, wiele się na nim dzieje...
